Artist Profile
Charles (Chuck) Stone is predominately a self-trained artist currently residing in the New South Wales east coast, Australia. Born and raised in the Southwestern USA, he relocated to Australia in 2002; settling at the time on the Gold Coast.
Chuck attended the University of Arizona where he received an undergraduate degree in architecture while undertaking classes in art and art history. He was raised in northern Arizona and took a passionate interest in art at at a very early age, winning numerous community awards with his painting and drawings. Chuck received his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business.
Now semi-retired from developing large resorts, residential high-rise, infrastructure, medical and university research facilities in Australia, the Pacific and Asia, he is focused on continuing to explore and develop as an artist and landscape painter.
While continuing to paint in watercolours, he is currently focused on exploring and developing his art using the medium of soft pastels. The vibrant colours and quality of the medium have intrigued him since opening his first box of pastels.
His painting subjects currently include Australian coastlines and back-country, rivers, mountains, rock formations and desert scenes reminiscent of where he’s lived, visited and was raised.
Recent workshops include Amanda McLean, internationally renowned pastel artist and tutor.
